History
Also Robert Henderson named his 40 ha grant Belgooler in the 1820s and over the years the name was simplified. The area was also known as Mad Micks Hollow and Dalleys Beach.

A suburb about 1 km S of Avalon and about 2 km NE of Newport. This area transferred from Warringah LGA to Pittwater LGA on 24-APR-92 Boundaries determined 19 Apr 1984 as per GNB2550/D
Origin
Said to be from the Aboriginal bulgola or belgoula meaning a pretty beach with steep slopes studded with cabbage palms. (Sydney Suburbs K Anderson 1989).
