White Swamp (RURAL PLACE), NSW Details
Description
A rural place located on White Swamp Road 3.5 km NW of Mount Clunie TS and 15 km SW of Boonah Border Gate in the locality of Koreelah.
Origin
White Swamp takes its name from the white flower heads of the foxtail grass which dominated the valley. White Swamp was the centre of a large timber industry and boasted two stores numerous sawmills and a post office. Since the demise of the timber industry the town has disappeared and all that is left is the graveyard and farm houses.
