Description
A wide and deep indentation into the S coast formed by the Tasman Sea. At its head the Clyde River has its mouth and the town of Batemans Bay is situated.
Origin
Named by Captain Cook in honour of Nathaniel Bateman who had been captain of the Northumberland when Cook was master. (Ref Behind Broulee History of Eurobodalla Shire Central Coast N.S.W. Page 11.
