The name CUNA GAP is mentioned in the boundary description of John Earles Walhollow run. NSW G.G. 1848 page 1233. MAPS. The name CANA is not in the 1962 edition of the country map. Both gap and gully are so

Description

A non perennial watercourse rising east of Cana trigonometrical station. It flows east south and then west through Cana Gap. About 800m west of Cana homestead its course becomes indefinite in the plain country east of Werris Creek.

Meaning

The name may be taken from Cana of Galilee (Johnii et al.)

Origin

The name of the gap would naturally have attached to the gully and probably very early;it was current early this century.
