In 1879 John Cameron was commissioned leader of New South Wales party engaged in the survey of the Queensland - New South Wales border. The survey started at Warrego River and followed the 29th parallel.

The Rural Place in the vicinity of the survey mark denoting the junction of the New South Wales Queensland and South Australian borders. It is about 22.5km west north west of Fort Grey and about 120km north west of Milparinka.
