Originally named Daisy Hill then known as Redbank until establishment of Hillston Post Office in 1869.

A town on the Lachlan River is about 80 km WSW of Lake Cargelligo (town) and about 10 km N of Dirrung. Boundaries within the Carrathool Council area shown on map GNB3745.
