History
Previously known as Acacia Avenue Reserve.
Description
A public reserve at St Marys of approximately 8400 sqauare metres. It is bounded by Araluen and Acacia avenues and Waratah and Merinda streets and occupies Lot 213 of DP 26908.
Origin
Jack Jewry (28.03.1945 - 18.08.1966) was one of the first conscripts to die at the battle of Long Tan in Vietnam. He grew up in the St Marys area attending the local schools and was an active member of the swimming club. The area surrounding the reserve is a duration cottage area which was developed for the WW11 munitions workers.
