Meaning
From Bongol Bongol/Bongil Bongil which means a place where one stays a long time.
Origin
There was once an abundance of food available here and Bellinger tribes came here for long periods. Large Middens W of Reserve. The first selector W.E. Bayldon gave it the name Bonville as a more pleasant sounding name then the native Bongol. (Often called Bungle) (GNB 159).
