History

Description

A reserve approx. 1.5 hectares in area comprising Lots 1&2 DP 566807 Lot 1 DP 1239 Lot 5 DP 20765 and a separate Lot 141 DP 537053. Accessed from the corner of Pemberton and Broughton Streets the reserve extends south to the Parramatta River in the suburb of Parramatta.

Baludarri (also known as Balloderree or Ballooderry) means leatherjacket fish. Darrug language.

Origin

Baludarri was the eldest son of Burramattagal elder Maugoran and his wife Gooroobera who were displaced from Parramatta during the first European occupation of Rosehill in November 1788. Baludarri was one of the first indigenousAustralians to develop friendly relations with early colonists.Baludarri assisted Governor Phillips expedition
