Description
A partly perennial stream rising about 6 km SW of Upper Burringbar. It flows generally N then NW for about 7 km into Rowlands Creek.
Meaning
From the Bandjalung-Yugambeh dialect chain word juan or joan a spear. Source: J Allen. Dictionary p31 1914.
Origin
Aboriginal. Possibly tchuun for spear. Also spelt juwan and djuwan which may refer to shape of the mountain which has a unique position as the source of Chowan and Rolands Creek flowing nth-wst into the Tweed River. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library. 1984).
