Thornleigh Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
Description
A gully which runs from an area in Mount Annan about 2.9 km W by N of the junction of Narellan Road with the South Western Freeway. It flows for about 1.6 km in a generally northerly direction to its point of confluence with Narellan Creek. This point is about 0.2 km SE of the junction of Currans Hill Road and Narellan Road.
Origin
Name based on the name of the property through which the creek flows. The origin of that name dates back to the farm `Thorn Hill`. It is shown on a lease dating from 1882. The hill just south of the southern boundary of the property was known as `Thorn Hill` because it was covered in prickly pear. (Russell W naming proposal 11 May 1997)
