Description
A remarkably high pyramid-shaped rock located 25 km SE of Lord Howe Island. The name is not an actual geographical name as defined under the provisions of the Geographical Names Act 1966 because the island is not regarded as being an acquisition of New South Wales.

Named by Lieutenant Ball in 1788 after himself ...he observed a remarkably high pyramidical rock at a considerable distance from the island which has been named Balls Pyramid;... (Phillip 1789:180)
