Description
Town within the city of Blue Mountains on the Blue Mountains Range about 5.5 km NNW of Blackheath.
Origin
It was known in the early nineteenth century as One Tree Hill and Broughtons Water Hole. When the railway was constructed in May 1868 Governor Belmore felt that the name Victoria in honour of the then Queen would be appreciated and to avoid confusion with the adjoining state the name Mount Victoria was applied. (Kennedy 1992)
