Village on the North Coast Railway line about 18 km south south west of Casino. Population 88 (1961 census)

Meaning

Said to mean bunyip in the water. The bynyip is a legendary creature said to be found in lakes waterholes etc. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library & Richmond River Historical Society. 1983).
