Aboriginal. From: Possibly gunang meaning excrement or waste matter with -gir (also spelt -gerry) meaning wish like to (all Aboriginal dialects). Place names with gunang/guna are reasonably common for example - Goonoo Goonoo Goondiwindi etc. (Richmond Tweed Regional Library. 1984).
