Gerry Emery Reserve (RESERVE), NSW Details
History
The reserve land was purchased by Kiama Council in 1987. It was developed as a cricket field and referred to by various unofficial names such as Gerringong Cricket Oval and Jubilee Oval.
Description
A reserve on the corner of Rowlins and Bridges roads at Gerringong. It occupies Lot 601 of DP 739447. The reserve contains two cricket ovals.
Origin
Name commemorates Edgar Albert (Gerry) Emery (7.1.1911 - 22.3.1999) who was an outstanding cricket player and administrator. He represented New South Wales Country Firsts and his service to the Illawarra Cricket Council included 25 years as a selector. He also assisted community groups. (Kiama Council March 1998)
