History

Burrill Lake Foreshores and Reserves Management Committee asked that the feature be named in honour of the Coopers the earlier inhabitants of the locality.

Description

A watercourse about 1.5 km in length which rises in Por 165 in an area about 3.8 km N of Lagoon Head and flows in a southerly direction to cross Kendall Crescent and McDonald Parade and discharges into Burrill Lake through Public Reserve No 381.

Origin

Mary Anne Cooper (nee Ilett) married Robert James Cooper (1830-1910) in 1871. She was the first purchaser of the land north of the bridge across Burrill Lake. The creek runs through their land and close to the site of their home. (McAndrew A Beautiful Burrill)
