Fireclay Gully (GULLY), NSW Details
Description
A watercourse beginning in an area 0.5 km W by SW of Belrose Trigonometrical Station and 2.1 km N by NW of French Trigonometrical Station. It is 1.9 km in length and flows in a generally westerly direction into Middle Harbour Creek.
Origin
In the period 1920-40 there were many mining leases in the area. The mines provided fireclay pottery clay kaolin and lesser minerals. The predominant clay fireclay was found in the hill above the gully. (See list of mining surveys on the map of the Parish of Manly Cove).
