History
In 1868 a group of 56 Lutherans in 14 covered wagons ans two spring carts set out from the Barossa Valley in search of suitable land. Two months and 1000 km later they settled where the village now is.

Meaning
Is probably Wiradhuri in origin but no meaning has been verified. (Appleton; 1992). Also: Posiibly from Wallawalla for rain. (McCarthy; 1963).
