Description
A neighbourhood within the suburb of Campbelltown about 2 km SSE of Campbelltown and about 2.5km SW by S of Ruse. Boundaries within the Campbelltown Council area shown on map GNB4174.
Origin
Airds a name (now rare) applied to an area in the Minto district of NSW by Governor Macquarie in honour of the family estate of his wife referred to in his diary note on the subject (1810) as my dear good Elizabeth. A township named Campbelltown (q.v.) by Macquarie was afterwards established there. (Australian Encyclopedia)
