Receives its identity at the junction of Spring Creek and Wiles Gully about 6.4 km north of Wallabadah. It flows generally west for about 16 km through the town of Quirindi to a junction with Quirindi Creek at the southern end of the town.

Long Ned Dwyer Loders stockeeper in charge at Quirindi squattage about 1830 discovered and named the creek after two little hills where the creek leaves the mountains which he named Jacob and Joseph. (Quirindi Herald Souvenir M/L 991.8/H). Major Mitchell met Long Ned or Old Ned in December 1831. The name is noted in red ink on 1862
