using regex with replace to replace all instances of something in a string

so you have a string and you want to replace a recurring character, use this to do it:

String Example: var string = "a-string-with-dashes.txt";

var string = "a-string-with-dashes.txt";
string = string.replace(/-/g , " ");

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin.
